Students this summer got an easier way for filing of application forms. UGC has now directed all universities and colleges to accept the documents like birth certificates and mark sheets that are self attested. The students would no longer need to worry about getting their credentials attested by gazette officers.

Earlier, it was compulsory for candidates to get their documents attested from gazette officers in order to take examinations and admission in courses at University level. Getting their mark-sheets, birth certificates, domicile certificate attested from gazette officer was a matter full of hassles as students had to face refusals.
Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) registrar RD Musalgaonkar said, "We have implemented the directions and now students can submit self-attested documents. Obtaining an attested copy or affidavit not only requires money but also consumes a lot of time." He also informed that UGC had requested Universities and other institutions to accept the self attested documents.
